I really would rather just stay in, starting around mid October when the first hint of true cold blows through. This year however was different…staying shockingly warmish right up until the past few weeks (mid December? perfect timing!) I do go out sledding regularly with the kids but I spend much of that time whispering to myself “when you get home there will be blankets” just to get me through.
This year (ummmm….and more so next year) I am forcing myself to embrace the winter. My idea of a fun time is almost always taking pictures, and as much as I caaaaaan do that in the house, winter is long and I need to change it up now and then.
So today I took the first step. On a whim (whims are how most of my accomplishments begin) I rustled up some clothes, piled them on top of what Willow was already wearing, promising her a big fat christmas cookie when we get back home (yeah that’s right, bribery is not below me) if she would just pleeeeeeeaaasseee humore me outside for a few minutes, sans coat.
All I had to say was cookie.
It was cold, mostly for her, especially after the whole “fell into a snow bank” thing…
BUT we did it!! We had a little fun, we took some pictures, we went home and we christmas cookied. WIN WIN WIN!!
Now to hunt for some pretty snow locations to get me through the winter (if you have suggestions near-ish Ingersoll you are more than welcome to fill me in!!)
Next up….don’t forget you have this little space on the internet to remind you of these days, geez….you’d think with all the work that went into this thing I would remember it exists more than once in a while!

These are absolutely gorgeous shots!! And you have inspired me to at least *consider* embracing winter ☺️
